New Franchises in Panama
Bucking the Trend in the world market
International brands continue to invest in Panama.  The most recent franchises
opening up their doors in Panama City are Papa Johns, a US Pizza franchise and
Juan Valdez, a Colombian coffee shop.  Other franchises in Panama have been
operating for years include Dairy Queen, KFC, and Quiznos Subs, all of whom are
rapidly expanding over the last six months to keep up with growth both inside
and outside of the city.  This is a marked difference between the economic
climates in Europe and the US, where many of the same companies are forced to
cut back and reduce plans for expansion.

Panama has the highest perception of the US and US brands as either “favorable
or excellent” compared to all of the countries in Latin America.  In other
words, none of this anti-US sentiment exists here, and in fact its quite the
contrary; US brands such as TGI Fridays, Paul Frank clothing, Bennigans,
Popeye’s, Subway and others have all thrived in Panama.

Panama’s 7 Year Wave and the Swells to Come
Our thoughts and predictions on the market in 2012

After three years of market studies and ground breaking reports, we are proud
to release our 2012 Panama Real Estate Report, entitled “Panama’s 7 Year Wave
and The Swells to Come”.  Similar to our Blood on the Streets real estate
expose in 2007, this report holds back no punches when it comes to telling what
we believe is the real story behind the real estate market in Panama and what
the coming 12 months holds for the Isthmus.  Our objective is to present both
sides of the story instead of the usual marketing fluff that most agencies are
putting out these days.

Inside: The Panama real estate boom will continue in 2012, but what direction
will prices go and what is the future of the real estate for this small Latin
American country over the next 12 months? In order to make any sort of
prediction about Panama real estate trends in 2012, one has to[3] FULL ARTICLE

Casco Viejo Poised for Major Growth
With a little help from the Government
The Panamanian government is once again getting behind development of the old
town, as restorations get started in full scale this month.  In other news
according to an official press release last week, the financial incentives
(preferential interest rates and tax incentives) may be back on the table once
again.  The incentives expired in 2007 and may be brought to life again to
encourage the next wave of growth in Casco Viejo and this, combined with the
massive government sponsored infrastructure improvements, will no doubt lead to
renewed interest in an already hot market for properties in the Old Town.

We’ve got great relationships with several agencies that are involved in
development and restoration in Casco Viejo, so if you’re keen on an investment
in historic real estate in Panama, now is the time!

Panama Ranked #1 in the New York Times
2012, We’re finally on the map

Last weekend ended a successful 2012 Jazz Festival and the Carnival season is
right around the corner meaning summertime is in full swing here in Panama.
Hoteliers and other tourism related business owners couldn’t be more
enthusiastic about the recent New York Times article naming Panama the top
travel destination in 2012.  Hotels have been nearly fully booked for this
first month in January, and expectations are high for the 2012 tourist season
which coincides with the coldest months of the year up north.

A few places that were left off in the article were Pedasi and Coronado, but
that’s OK.  Our readers have been following the developments of both of these
beach towns for years so already know what the Times authors doesn’t!  [5]To
