Trump Panama September 2010 Construction Update

From the chief engineer of Trump Panama | Oct 2nd, 2010 | As usual, we are updating construction status as of end of September and adding some recent photos. We are approaching the end of the construction work and the building looks great. After 10,000,000 man-hours of paid labor force, safety record is awesome. A/C system was started on successfully (testing phase) and everything remains on track. TCO´s are being submitted and the process is going on. Hotel opening schedule remains unchanged. Millwork and other carpentry is now being shipped and will start to arrive in the upcoming next weeks.

Trump Panama Ocean Club Updates

1.Trump Panama Highlights: Highlights for the month include the installation of window glazing in the main lobby and hotel interior atrium, the safe and successful dismantling process of three out of four tower cranes, and the start of the occupancy permit approval process.

2. Trump Panama Construction Progress:

Technical System: The installation of all MEP Systems as well as all conveying systems is progressing according to schedule. The high voltage system is up and running, all electric bussways are in place, and all electric generators have been commissioned. The fire protection system is currently being tested, and we expect to have the system inspected by the Fire Department within the first two weeks of October. Conveying systems for the platform areas were inspected by the Fire Department two weeks ago, and all recommendations are currently being addressed by our team. By the third to last week of October, we expect to have permits issued by Fire Department for all platform areas.

Trump Panama Finished Work:
* Bayloft and Condominium: The Bayloft units between levels 2 and 11 are currently in the punch list stage, and all units should be ready within the next month. The Condominium units between levels 16 and 35 are also in the punch list stage, units between levels 36 and 50 are 80% complete, and units between levels 51 and 61 are 70% complete. . Critical activities include the installation of all millwork and interior glazing. This material is expected to be delivered by late October 2010 and all units will be completed by December 2010.

* Trump Panama Hotel: As mentioned in the last report, work in the hotel is approaching completion. Pending work includes installation of: i) millwork, which will be delivered by mid October and installed by November 15th, ii) interior glazing, which is currently being installed and should be ready by the end of October, and carpet in all the corridors which will only begin once all millwork is installed.

* Trump Panama Public Areas: Finished work for all public areas is advancing as expected. The team is currently tackling all floor and wall finishes. Millwork in these areas will be delivered late in the month of October, and should be completely installed by December 15.

* Trump Panama Exterior Facade: Work in the east platform facade facing the front street has been 100% completed. Our team is currently working on the north facade which should be completed by the end of October. Pending work includes all paint in the interior atrium between levels 16 and 61 which will be completed by the month of November.

3. Trump Panama Labor Force and Staff: The average labor force is 2.400 workers and we currently have 130 professionals. These numbers are expected to decrease in the upcoming month as activities are completed and we approach all deadlines.

4. Trump Panama Safety and HSE: To date, three out of four tower cranes have been safely dismantled. The fourth tower crane will be dismantled by the end of the year. To date we report zero mayor accidents and minor incidents have been treated promptly and appropriately by our safety staff.

5. Trump Panama Challenges: Upcoming challenges include: the installation of the pinnacle and testing and commissioning all technical systems.

    Interesting piece Kent. I met you a while back in Panama City and we went to look at (what was only then) a hole in the ground. Looks like Trump is coming along nicely. I will be excited to see how it turns out.

    Nice to hear from you, and yes I remember meeting you back in 2007. Amazing that this iconic project is now close to completion! I am hearing whispers of a late April date for the opening of the hotel.

    Last check there were over 1,200 workers on site, racing to the finish. Thanks for stopping by the page and leaving a comment!
