In an effort to bring a new level of transparency to the real estate industry in Panama, Panama Equity is now compiling a database of closed real estate transactions in and around the Panama City, Panama area.  This list will be constantly added to in the hopes that it will give both buyers and sellers an indication of actual market conditions.

    This is a great start to the long needed transparency in the Panama Real Estate Market.

    As a buyer, it has been very difficult to determine the true value of Panama Real Estate. It is fine that developers and sellers put prices on the internet which reflect what they “want” for a property, but the true value is only what someone is willing to pay.

    The seasoned buyer willing to plunk down $500,000 and more for a property (or any amount for that matter) wants some assurance that he will get the money back. After all, there is a reason someone can spend that kind of money for a property, and the reason is not because he tosses money around. Seasoned buyers are never happy about losing money on a subsequent sale and can sour him on future purchases.

    Your information will help all buyers make informed decisions — and that is what it is all about for the smart investor. Smart, informed decisions today lead to more purchases in the future.

    Kent, I’m sure you know this. The closest thing to a Panama MLS is, albeit it has many listing tombstones.

      Sal, thanks for your comment! Panama Realtor does a great job with their listings, however what they do (and what we’ve been doing up until this month) is just slap a “sold” sticker on the listing without updating the pricing. We thought that this (albeit rather informal) list would serve as a more timely and accurate list of real time sales with actual sales prices.
