Panama’s Pearl Islands are rich with history, starting back in the 1500s when the area was well known to Spanish conquistadors and the pirates that chased them. Today, the Pearl Islands are still one of Panama’s best kept secrets, although that secret is slowly becoming known as Contadora, Isla Viveros and neighboring Saboga. There are a handful of small undeveloped islands for sale in the Pearl Islands as well as some pearl islands beachfront property for sale.

Isla del Rey is one of the largest islands in the Pearl Islands of Panama and is now the home to the West Coast Fishing club’s high end on-location fishing camp. Many world records have been set in the Pearl Islands for fishing, and some species that can be found off of Panama’s waters include Blue Marlin, Sail Fish, and several varieties of Wahoo and Tuna.

Another famous island in the Pearl Islands is Contadora Island, home to a number of hotels and private residences. Contadora Island is Panama’s most developed Pearl Island and has many full time residents along with a handful of hotels including Punto Gallon Hotel and Villa Romantica.
