What do you picture when you think of living in the Caribbean? Your mind likely conjures images of soft white sand, crystal blue waters, swaying palms, and maybe even a tropical drink in your hand.
Or, does your imagination lead you to images of packed, overpriced resorts or cruise ships swarming with tourists?
Unfortunately, as the Caribbean has become an increasingly popular beach destination with tourists from around the world, many of the area’s beaches have lost much of their natural charm and beauty.
That doesn’t mean, though, that your Caribbean experience must be shared with hoards of tourists. In fact, one of the best ways to enjoy life in the Caribbean isn’t at a well-known resort at all.
What if we told you that you could invest in a slice of Caribbean paradise on one of the region’s most pristine and untouched beaches for a fraction of the cost of what you might pay elsewhere?
If that piques your interest, then keep reading…
Living in the Caribbean: Owning a Slice of Paradise
So what is this elusive Caribbean destination?
Welcome to Red Frog Beach!
Located on Bastimentos Island in the Bocas del Toro region of Panama, Red Frog Beach is often referred to as a “secret beach.” The island is home to just a small handful of private hotels and restaurants.
For the most part, this island has escaped the attention of mainstream Caribbean beach-goers. Compare that to resort-ridden beaches of the Bahamas or Turks and Caicos, and you’ve found yourself a true Caribbean oasis.
One of the reasons that Red Frog Beach has remained under the radar with Caribbean tourists is that accessing this beach requires a bit of inside knowledge.
Getting to Red Frog beach is relatively simple once you’re “in the know.” You can wake up in Panama City and have your feet in the sand at Red Frog Beach by lunchtime.
However, to get to the island you need to take a short domestic flight and hail a quick water taxi. But the secluded nature of this world-class beach is well worth the journey.
Another reason that Red Frog Beach hasn’t caught on with international tourists is that until recently there was limited infrastructure on the island. There are a handful of restaurants and simple hotels, but that’s about it… until now.
Welcome to the Blue Pearl Island Suites
This pre-construction development of luxury condos on Red Frog Beach is opening up a new world of opportunities for how to enjoy this Caribbean oasis.
Beach lovers now have the option to own their own piece of tropical perfection at Red Frog Beach, without shelling out the astronomical sums that a beachfront condo would cost almost anywhere else in the Caribbean.
Only a short stroll from the water, Blue Pearl offers an opportunity to invest in your own tropical oasis while also supporting the local economy and helping to protect this rich natural environment.
The three low-profile buildings are tucked directly into the lush tropical surroundings, keeping nature as an integral part of the development.
The development is conceived to be as minimally invasive to the natural landscape as possible and has even received a Green Globe certification. This certification not only acknowledges the eco-friendly nature of the resort but also the emphasis on cultural preservation and sustainable practices.
There are a variety of condo layouts available to meet the needs of different buyers. In each of the units, you will be able to enjoy a comfortable and stylish design as well as a number of modern amenities. This includes top-notch features such as a beachfront pool, restaurants, spa and beach club. You won’t believe what you can get for the price.

Living in the Caribbean: Beyond Blue Pearl
For those looking to relax and be at one with nature, Red Frog Beach is the ultimate utopia.
Regardless of what your perfect beach day looks like, Red Frog Beach has you covered.
Whether you’re interested in surfing, swimming, stand up paddle-boarding, or lounging on the shore, you can do it all. However you choose to interact with aquatic wildlife, whether it’s fishing for Tuna and Wahoo or searching for sea turtles while snorkeling, you can do it all just outside your backdoor.
And while the beach is certainly the star of the show here, there are plenty of other activities to partake in on the island’s interior. You might find yourself ziplining through the canopy or searching for some of the more than 200 species of tropical birds.
Of course, when you’ve had enough of those activities, you can always lounge by the pool, sip your morning coffee on your private balcony, or enjoy a massage at the local spa.
When it comes to living at Red Frog Beach, you won’t have a hard time filling your days with activities that are as adventurous or as relaxing as you want.
Living in the Caribbean: Life in Bocas del Toro
The privacy and relative isolation offered by Red Frog Beach are part of what makes it so special. At some point, though, even the happiest of beach hermits need somewhere to purchase provisions or enjoy a meal out. And in these cases, the town of Bocas del Toro is just a short 15-minute water taxi ride away.
Here, residents and visitors from around the Bocas del Toro region can enjoy a fresh seafood lunch by the water, or stock up on household goods. There are a dozen or so small supermarkets here, where you can find all sorts of packaged foods and drinks, fresh produce, meat and seafood, and home goods.
Bocas Town also offers multiple dining options for when you don’t feel like cooking and want more variety than what you can find around Red Frog Beach.
Apart from lots of fresh seafood and heaping plates of Panamanian fare, you can also find good pizza, Italian food, cafes, Mexican food, and even a great Israeli meal. Additionally, if you’re looking for some nightlife, Bocas has a handful of breweries and beach bars where you can kick back and relax with other residents of the area.
Finally, just because Red Frog Beach is our favorite beach in the Bocas del Toro region, it certainly isn’t the only one. From the town of Bocas del Toro, you can easily hop on a boat to venture out and explore some of the other miraculous beaches in this corner of Panama.
Buying your own slice of paradise, just got a lot more affordable…
