The 7th Panamanian International Film Festival (IFF) is back. Block your calendars from April 5 to 11, as we just got a sneak peek at the program and it’s looking fantastic and more international than ever.
We can’t wait to see the world premiere of “Decembers” by Panama’s very own Enrique Castro, “The Square” (Ruben Östlund’s Palme d’Or winner last year and also up for the Oscars) and “A Fantastic Woman” (Sebastián Lelio’s Silver Bear winner for Best Screenplay in Berlin). Here’s the latest list for you, though keep checking back for more releases before April.
New state-of-the-art venues have also been added to the program, though our favorite will always be the iconic Balboa Theater (IFF’s HQ), so if you can, catch a movie there… or outdoors on the Cinta Costera 2 for free.
And if you want to rub shoulders with movie industry big-wigs, Everardo González, the director of “Devil’s Freedom,” Ana Serner, CEO of the Swedish Film Institute and Laura Michalchyshyn, executive producer and co-founder of Sundance Productions will all be coming.
And, as in years past, Primera Mirada and Campus Latino will be supporting emerging filmmakers. Only in its fourth year, we’re super excited to see winning films from Central America and the Caribbean selected by Primera Mirada reach distribution agreements and tour the world festival circuit.
Finally, there are special tourist packages departing from throughout Latin America to entice your friends and family to come down to Panama at this time of year.
Vamos Panamá!
